Designed for horizontal mounting. the float switch contains a reed switch contact. which will close on either rise. or fall of the liquid in which it sits.  

Operation is reversible by rotating the float switch 180 degrees to achieve contact closure.

The float switch contains a magnet inside the floating bulb which will activate the reed switch contact when the desired level is achieved
